With the fast pace of everyone levelling we soon realized that we would be able to raid 25-mans sooner than expected.  Monday night we assembled our 24 level 80s (including our first Death Knight 80, Hush!) and headed to the Obsidian Sanctum whereupon Sartharian fell over and handed us our first Tier 7 loot.  We proceeded to Naxx and cleared the Spider Wing, Plague Wing and Abom wing to Thaddius.  Patchwerk was a bit challenging at these hit point levels, but our healers came through with a great performance.  Tonight we hope to be able to do all of Naxx.  Stay tuned.

Well Wrath of the Lich King went live as promised Wednesday night and the guild really hit the ground running, really exceeding all of our expectations.  Avest and Sleaze really deserve a big congratulations as the server's first 80 toons (and first Night Elf, Druid, Draenei and Shaman, but who's counting, other than Sleaze).  Much of the rest of the guild is following along directly, and we should get to hit most 10-man content this reset.  Not quite Twenty Fifth November, but hey it's still Uldum.

Check back for more news soon.

After killing this guy for over 2 months, we finally got one of these mythical legendaries.  We gave it to Madazz since he's too cheap to buy the good arrows in any event.   Wink

I kid.  Big congratulations to Madazz.  Hopefully we will get 3 more of these before Wrath, but I would not bet the bank on it.   Stay tuned to this channel for updates on the 10 and 25 mans after we plow our way to 80.

Well that's all she wrote for Sunwell.  Learning Kil'Jaeden gives much more of a feeling of tangible progress than learning pre-nerf M'uru.  It is also more forgiving of raid composition, which we heartily appreciated.   The guild did a great job working through positioning, multiple dragon-handlers and different strats before it all really started to gel.   I am a bit at a loss for words to describe my feelings, however, since we played in such a shitty fashion for most of the night that I had zero expectations of a kill.  Just when it seemed we had no shot and I was tempted to say "Fuck this, come back next week and try harder!"...bam, dead KJ.  I guess not having French accents on vent really does increase focus.  (<3 Lightp).

Tonight's kill brings to a close a long cycle of rebuilding the strength of the guild from the low we reached mid-BT, having lost a lot of veteran Poor Play members that left a huge void to fill.  We got Illidan, but did not realize until we got to Sunwell how thin our ranks actually were.  Our sucking on Kalecgos and the consequent loss of 2 server firsts was a real wake-up call.  We slimmed down our core and recruited some amazing people.   I want to salute all the veterans and all the new people that made our success in Sunwell possible.  I especially would like to thank the people that put in a lot of work on this encounter, but were not able to be there for the kill, particularly Katanaa, Melchiah, Spasticolon and Mused.  Nice to see an Uldum guild has cleared all raid content, something we failed to do at 60.  Grats again to everyone!

Kil'Jaeden is a really fun encounter and, despite the slight emo I have over the sledgehammer M'uru nerf, I am happy that more raiders will be able to experience one of the true masterpieces of raid design.  Anyway, I have babbled enough the loot was:

Uber Dragon-Handler Toowired: [Sunflare]
lolKurdran: [Apolyon, the Soul-Render]
Lorre: [Tattered Cape of Antonidas]
Erwina: [Handguards of the Dawn]

Poor Play will see y'all in Wrath of the Lich King!   Cool

Finally!   Such an unbelievably difficult encounter.  This was the first kill since C'thun which had me screaming like a little girl on vent when Entropius finally went down.  Other people on news updates like the EJ one have said it much more eloquently than I can, but this encounter is nearly perfect in its placement in the zone and in its tuning.  Well, it would be perfect if the room did not have the disturbing tendency to disconnect people (which causes a wipe) or was not so unforgiving in terms of class make-up requirements (hello 6 healers, 4 tanks, 15 dps, with a strong preference for 2-3 shadow priests, 3 warlocks and a really strong physical damage contingent).   But who cares, he's fucking dead!

I would like to thank the entire guild that really rallied around this effort and did not fall into the temptation of infighting, backbiting and "I was excellent, you failed"-blame-gaming that has contributed to the demise of so many excellent guilds on this fight.  From new recruits like Adrix, Zemus and Logart whose first raids with Poor Play consisted of M'uru attempts, to the veterans that have been with us since pre-nerf Gruul and before, everyone really poured their all into this bitch.    People were selfless in playing other people's toons to fill a critical role in the battle, especially Deragous and Jefferino, and in helping others to prepare for the encounter.  I am truly honored to be part of this guild at the moment (despite our myriad and documented personality flaws!!), and would like to salute you all.

Loot:

Nexorcist: [Shifting Naaru Sliver]
Adrix: [Gauntlets of the Soothed Soul]
Nanteen: [Vicious Hawkstrider Hauberk]
Erwina: [Sin'dorei Band of Salvation]

Now onto Kil'Jaeden!!! Thanks to Nanteen for the sneak peek.
